broken wire on door sensor?

doing some construction and I think contractor broke the wire to an exit door (I noticed alarm showed door not closed even when it was). I found the wire FROM the door near the control panel and tested it: I found two wires (yellow and blue) that showed infinite ohm reading. I took the magnate from the door and placed it on the sensor in the door frame and no change in ohm reading. I'm confused because I thought if wires to door were cut, then there would have been no ohm reading. And when I tie yellow and blue wires TO panel, it does NOT show door as closed. I don't understand this. Thanks for your help.

Could there be more than one opening on this loop?

Infinite ohms is an open. Zero ohms is a short/closed loop.
The typical closed security contact loop will read 2-5 ohms.
