Safeco is a dealer. We need to know the maker of the hardware to hazard a guess at what it can and can't do. Most of the major alarm brands support smoke detectors in one form or another.

To find the brand you need to look inside control cabinet where the backup battery is.

What that tells me is that it has a wireless reciever. The model number will be either on a diagram on the inside of the system can door, or on one of the main IC chips it will be [PC xxxxx]. More than likely its either a 1555 (Power 632), a 5010 (Power 832), or a 5020 (power 864). There are a couple of others, but those are the three most common.

You are looking at the _keypad_ not the control unit. The _control_ is a (usually) beige metal box about 16" square located most likely in the master bedroom closet, or a similar location.

However your keypad is also the wireless reciever for the alarm system.

Other important information

You may want to contact the dealer. The system may still be conntected to your phone line. If the system goes off for any reason and the authorities are dispatched, you may get a false alarm fine. Check with the local authorities about alarm permits. Sometimes the dealer will service their own system and reprogram an existing system if you sign up for monitoring.
