getting the default installer code for Ademco 4140XMP

Does anyone know how to retrieve or reset the default installer code for an Ademco 4140XMP? I just moved into my house and want to use the existing alarm system with Nextalarm.com, but I need this code to set it up. I would be most gratefuul for any help.

Installer Code 4140xpm

You can try entering the following: 41408000, or you canpower down the system. To do this find the control panel, usually located in a closet. Open the panel door and a wiring diagram will be on the door. Refer to the wiring diagram, remove the AC power from the system, and remove the battery backup power. wait for about 30 seconds, reapply the battery power first, than the AC power, you must do this quickly. Then go to your keypad and press the * and # buttons together within 30 seconds of power up. If you get a 00 on the display, press # 00 and it will give you the installer code.

Don't forget, exit programming afterward with *99!
Otherwise you can accidentally change things you don't wish to change. You are going to want an installer manual for this beast. There are a lot of lines of programming.

Thanks so much.. I'll try this tomorrow and let you know if it works... Assuming it does, any ideas where I can get an Installer Manual?

Thanks again!

Just websearch using the phrase "Install Manual Ademco 4140xm" and you will get many sites. They will generally charge a small fee for the download, but this is an old enough system that you might actually find one for free.

I know the original post is several months old but for those that need the manuals I found them free in a *PDF format here. http://www.adt.com/resi/customer_service/owners_manuals/
Hope this helps.
