DSC Power 832 Trouble Light

I bought my system new in 2001 and had it professionally installed and it has worked perfect until tonight.

Earlier this evening we had a severe thunderstorm. I was home and saw a flash of lighting, then lost power to my house for a split second. The trouble light is now lit solid and I can not get the green ready light to come back on.The alarm has the same battery from when it was new and I also have it on plugged into a separate battery backup/surge protecter.

I pushed *2 for the trouble code and 1 came up so I pressed 1 and 5 came up. I looked in my manual and it says "General System Supervisory" What does this mean and can I reset the system myself?

DSC panels don't play nicely with voltage transients. With any luck, a re-boot will solve your problem. Disconnect the battery, then turn off AC power, count to 30, then restore power in the opposite order. With any luck, the only trouble will be a need to reset the clock.

MrRonFL,

Thanks for the tip Your advise worked and my alarm is back to normal however after checking out this site and asking questions I am going to replace the battery just to be safe cause after all it is going on 5 years now.

I have been told anything over 3 is asking for failure if I have a break in and my power is down for some reason.

Thanks again,

Steve
