Ademco 4204 Relay Module and vista 20p

Hi,
I have a hearing loss so when the keypad sounds for entry or exit I can't hear it.
So i installed a 4204 relay and 1 sonalert.
I programed *79 and *80 asked the tech where I bought this for help.
He said I'm trying things that havn't been tested? He was no help.
Hope someone here can help me.
Thanks
Jeff

Ok, let's be more specific. What behavior are you trying to get the relay to have this devicee perform? Are you trying to link it to the chime function, or just to the entry/exit warning tones?

Just the entry/exit warning tones.
Thanks

You are trying things that he just couldn't figure out the steps for. This won't be perfect, but it will get you close, and you may figure out a tweak or two.

It actually is more complicated than you think, some systems do this trick more gracefully than others. I'm assuming that you have 2-line alpha keypad, because if you don't this is just too complex to try and do blind.

First you have to activate the relay is *79. The address set on the module should be 12; it will be output number 01, output type: relay on 4204, module address 12; and relay position 1 (only one relay should be needed for this)

Then in *80, you will have to define 4 different behaviors based on "zone type".
1 will be for arming away to turn on your sounder; one will be for start if entry time to turn on your sounder and 2 to turn off the sounder at disarming and end of exit time.

The 4202 relay board I set the dip switches for 12.
for now I only enter two output funtions in *80
sonalert on and sonalert off.I take it that I use *80 (output Funct# ) 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 to get all of the funtions right?

I started with *79 enter output no. 01 for relay 1 right?
then came output type =1 for relay.
then relay position =1

Now I went to *80 output Funct# I put in 01 as this is only a function # right?

Activate by =2 Zone type

then
Enter ZN type = 21 Arming away
then
Output Action =2 stay close
then
Enter output No. I used the same number I used in *79 output 01 right?
then I exit out..
Now I do the same thing again *80 except change Output funct. #=02 and zone type to 32 start of entry time and change output action = 0 off (I hope)

I then enter my code and arm the system for away.
No new sonalert .. After the time delay I get the outside sounder going on.
I turn the system off and it says check 112 which is this 4202 relay.

No it's a logical reference number. You can point multiple functions in *80 at the same reference number.
then came output type =1 for relay.
then relay position =1

Check your wiring, and make sure that you haven't enabled the tamper switch on the module board. That will produce a check result. It is acting like the relay board isn't communicating with the contol, so definitely check the wiring connections.

I can visualize what you are trying to do, but without seeing the prompts myself, I don't know if you are adding or skipping a step that I would automatically do.
