FBI XL1218 Bypass code - NEED HELP, PLEASE!
Hi,
I have an old alarm system in my house that has been disabled for many years. It is a Fire Burgular Instruments XL1218 model. We are trying to power it up so we can get the smoke detectors to work for a state inspection. Is there ANY WAY to reset the bypass code to get into the alarm? We do not have any of the manuals or codes for the system. We have an alarm guy there now trying to get into it, but we aren't having any luck.....Any help would be really appreciated!

The XL 1218 was of a generation of panels that used a field programmed eeprom that took an external programmer. The code was generated by the original installer, and if there is no record of it anywhere (they sometimes wrote it on the inside of the enclosure behind the PC board), then you are basically stuck, short of a lucky guess.
You will come out far better, in my opinion, if you get a modern panel and keypad, and put this 15-18 year old piece of hardware out of it's misery.
