No sound from LCD5501Z keypad

I just bought a home which has the DSC Power 632 system. The previous owner
never used the system. I read the users manual and was able to set up a master code but I never hear any beeps from the keypad when entering numbers. No chime as well. Any Ideas?
Thanks

Door Chime on Zone Openings/Closings
You can program each LCD5501Z keypad to
sound a door chime when zones are opened and/
or when they are closed. By default, LCD5501Z
keypads are programmed to sound door chimes
on both zone openings and closings.
To change the door chime opening/closing
settings, at each LCD5501Z keypad:
1. Enter[*][8][Installerís code]
2. Enter [000] to go to keypad programming
3. Enter section [6].
4. To turn the options on or off, press [6] or [7]:
[6] ON = Door Chime Enabled for Zone
Openings
OFF = Door Chime Disabled for Zone
Openings
[7] ON = Door Chime Enabled for Zone
Closings
OFF = Door Chime Disabled for Zone
Closings
5. When you are finished, press [#] to exit.

I may be overlooking it, but I can't find a command for silencing the keybeeps for this keypad. Hopefully, this never used system never had someone get frustrated with it and pry off the piezo speaker.

If I choose to replace the keypad can I just pop the keypad off the backplate and put the new unit on it without any programming? Do I need to power down
the system for keypad replacement?
Thanks

If it's the same model keypad, yes, but you still have to enroll the new keypad into the system (DSC keypads are supervised and hold their settings independent of the main control), and set up the features. Otherwise, you have to remove the backplate from the wall as well.

Do power down the system before messing with those connections. If you don't have the installer code for this system, you will need it to setup the new keypad.
