Question Safewatch Pro 2000

Does any one know how to replace the Chime Battery? It goes off in the middle of night. All contacts are fine, I think it is probably a battery within the key pad.

Unless you have a wireless keypad, the only battery is in the system control box, which is a (usually) beige metal box about 12" x 16" x 3". The most common location is the master bedroom closet.

safewatch2000 beeping

Hi,

I have a safewatch 2000 that was installed in my home that I purchased. It is not activated, but it's beeping now.

The ADT pdf says its the smoke detector's battery that is low, but it does not say where to replace it.

Is it in the beige control box (don't have a key)? or Is it in the actual panel?

I didn't see a way to disengage the panel from the wall. Wanted to check this board first. If anyone has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Um....have you checked the smoke detector like the alarm said?

The cover should come off the detector and there should be a battery within the unit.

What EXACTLY is displayed on the screen? That usually helps a great deal on diagnosing a problem. Thanks in advance.

thanks for the reply.

it only displays, AC and Not Ready..

its more like a chirp.

I was able to get the faceplate off. I didn't see anything that looked like a battery. It was only a circuit board.

while it says "Not Ready" press the * key and tell us what it says. There are no batteries in the keypad.

Hi Chief,

The Not Ready is on constantly. When I press the *, there is no change to the display.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything on this system. No manual, no key, and no master code.

Here's a user manual:

http://www.adt.com/wps/wcm/resources/file/ebfa070b4c43e54/manual_safewatch_pro_2000.pdf

Make sure all doors/windows are shut and no one is moving in front of the motion detector and see if the "Not Ready" goes away.

One quirk of ademco wireless is that when the battery in a transmitter is fully depleted, the system no no longer reports a "low battery" it just shows the zone as open. Try entering your code + 1 (off) a couple of times, then press *. If you are not getting a ready light, then some device on the system is in off normal. If the cover is not on a transmitter, you won't get a ready light.

Thanks for the assistance. It is greatly appreciated.

The chirp stopped on its own. I'll wait a few days to see if it comes back. If it does I'll try your suggestions. Thank You.

If all you are hearing is a periodic "chirp", you may be hearing a regular smoke detector or CO detector with a low or borderline backup battery. Are there any such detectors near your keypad?

ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 Alarm Beeping - Help please

Hello -

We purchased a home with this alarm system and it is beeping until you punch any key on the pad. It will then quit and begin again hours later. Very annoying... The message is "chime" and "batt" The owners manual says to call for service, but we are not currently having the system monitored. We just want the chirping to stop. The only battery I can locate is in the control box in the closet. It says it is a CA1240 12 volt 4 amp battery. Is it as simple as buying a new one of these and replacing? I'm hoping so as I had a previous bad experience with ADT, and I'd rather not have to have an expensive service call just to fix a beep. If all else fails, can I power down the entire system since it is not used? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Jennifer

Yes, usually it is control panel battery which you can find at home centers, etc. When you replace it, the batt light might not go out for a few hours until the panel checks the status again.

This should end your beeping issue.
