I was reading in my installation manual last night about using EOL resistors. Basically it shows how to put them into the loop, but does not explain why you need them? What is the purpose of using the resistors in the loop? How do you know when to use 2 in the loop, one, or none? Does it have something to do with the length of the run, or with the number of modules on that run? My other question is about smoke alarms. I would like to purchase smoke alarms to use with this system. I have read about 4 wire, and 2 wire alarms. Which ones should I be looking at to purchase? Are there certain advantages to using one over the other???? Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

My alarm system horn has been going on for about a second during the last couple days. The control panel reads no problem and the central stattion has no record of any problems. I realize there could be many internal factos causing this one second ring. My question is could this one second ring be caused by any power flucuations coming into the house ? Given the hot weather the demand for electric power is at a record high, can a brownout cause this ring to happen. Thanks PS the system has been off when the horn goes off
