Help with setting uo Ademco 20P self-test

Hello,
I am trying to set up my self-monitored Ademco 20P to do a weekly self-test. I verified that the clock is set up properly, and set field 63 to 0 + 1, which should do a self-test every week. Should this be sending me a page verifying the test? Perhaps I'm reading more into this then I should, but what I am expecting is a weekly page to my pager showing that everything is working properly.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Try field *64 1 (it's a single digit input field). Then in run mode you enter [installer code] + [#] + 0 + 1. Make sure the system clock is set as well.

I verified that field *64 was set to 1, and I entered [ic] + # + 0 + 1. System clock is also set, but I do not get any test pages. Is there something I'm missing? When I enter [ic] + # + 0 + 1, I do not get any acknowledgment from the system, should I be? Is there a way to verify that it's set up properly?

thank you

Try doing a manual test (page 13-3 of the installer manual).

Dialer Communication Test and Periodic Test Reports
1. Enter Installer Code + 5 [TEST], then press “1” at the prompt to start the Dialer Test.
The following will be displayed (accompanied by 2 beeps) if test is successful:
PHONE OKAY (“Cd” displayed on Fixed-Word Display Keypads)
A Contact ID report will also be sent (code 601)
If the dialer test is unsuccessful, the following is displayed:
COMM FAILURE (“FC” displayed on Fixed-Word Display Keypads)
2. Enter installer code + OFF to clear the display and exit.
Automatic Periodic Test Report
The system can be set to automatically send test reports (enabled in field *64; Contact ID code 602) at specified intervals.
Frequency of the reports is set in Scheduling mode (event 11) or by the following key commands:
installer code + [#] + 0 + 0 = test report sent every 24 hours
installer code + [#] + 0 + 1 = test report sent once per week
installer code + [#] + 0 + 2 = test report sent every 28 days
Each mode sets schedule 32 (VISTA-20P) or schedule 08 (VISTA-15P) to the selected repeat option;
first test report sent 12 hours after command.
To ensure that test reports are sent at the times expected, set the Real-Time Clock to the proper time
before entering the test report schedule command.

Addendum

I took a closer look at those V-20p pager formatting sections:

You won't get a timer test from this panel. The pager reporting is completely seperate from the regular reporting. The only thing it will send to the pager is:

1 = Open/close for all users enabled to page
4 = All alarms and troubles
5 = All alarms, troubles, and open/close for
all users enabled to page
12 = Alarms and troubles for zones entered
in zone list 9
13 = Alarms and troubles for zones listed in
zone list 9 and open/close for all users
enabled to page

The timer test has to send via the regular reporting dialer formats, which won't work for your pager because the pager service cannot generate the confirmation signal the system needs to see to complete the call.

That would explain it. Thank you for clearing this up.

Periodic Self Test

Code 602
I have my Ademco 20P set to do this periodic self test weekly. And it reports that it has been completed.

Q1. What does this test do? Is it an electrical check of each sensor for response from the panel?
Q2. Will it give some indication somewhere if there is a problem? Where/how do I check for this?

All this does is send a communicator test. If it fails to complete the call, it will show a failure to communicate trouble.

If you have wireless transmitters, they have a degree of continuous self diagnostic. The hardwire contacts either work or they don't (either wire fault, or bad contact). You can (and should) activate the walk test feature once in awhile to make sure all of your zones are working as designed.

how do I set up this part?? I have done the dialer communication test ic+5+1, but I cannot setup the automatic periodic test report. When I enter (installer code + [#] + 0 + 1 = test report sent once per week) nothing happens... Thanks
