Brinks Alarm Beeping Every 4 Hours
We own our Brinks Alarm System, but canceled the service b/c we never used it. It has been working fine until now. For the last few days/nights, it's been beeping every 4 hours, and continues to beep unless we press the code or cancel. Any idea how to get this to stop? We don't want to recontract, and are fine with not having the system working right now at all. We just want the beeping to stop! Thanks so much...

I'm guessing that the system is complaining that it's failing to connect to the monitoring center. Brinks panels are pretty much hard-coded to their monitoring system. Some of the more recent models can be set as local only, but if you don't have their programming device and code books, it's not a DIY project.
Brinks has been known to send system shutdown commands on monitoring cancellation, and if you unplug or shut off the phoneline, the system shows a trouble because it cannot detect a phone line.
Short of having them come out and reprogram the panel as a local only, there is not a practical DIY fix for this.

If you don't want any alarm system all you have to do is disconnect the battery and AC adapter. Without power it won't beep or do anything else but take up space.
At some time in the future you may wish to have an alarm system. At that time you might be better off purchasing a DIY system and then utilizing the sensors on your present system.
REMEMBER, you must disconnect BOTH the battery AND the AC power supply.
