DSC PC-1555 system light 4 problem
I have a Ranger American system using the DSC PC-1555 keypad. Last night I accidently opened a door after arming the system and the siren went off, then I silenced it with the master code. Then the system yellow light came up. I pressed *2 and it showed #4, meaning losing communication with the central station. But I quit subscribing to any monitoring service 2 yrs ago due to the high cost, only using the siren's alarm function as an intrusion deterrent. I tried to reset the power by unplugging AC and battery and turned the sys. back on, but the system light just won't go away. Is it because the system's alarm memory keeps dialing the monitoring company? How to reset the system light? I don't subscribe to the mon. service anymore. Any help on this will be appreciated (the beeping sound woke me up in the middle of the night and I couldn't go back to sleep).

You probably hadn't caused the system to try to communicate prior to this. Yes it's going to keep trying to connect until it hit's the programmed number of attempts (usually 5-8), then the failure to communicate trouble will stay until you either successfully connect to a central station, or you turn off the dialer function.
The good news is that it's not difficult to do once you are in program mode. The bad news is that Ranger American's installer code isn't widely known (I don't know it) and there is no way to jump a 1555 into program mode without knowing the installer code.
Short of another reader contributing the RA installer code, the only other option is to default the panel to factory settings and reprogram all of the zone settings from scratch.

Problem solved
Thanks for the prompt reply. Actually I forgot to mention that the RA system was installed and programmed by ADT. Last night I searched/browsed more from this forum's postings and found one very useful and tried the procedures you recommended, and it worked! They were:
"If you have the installer code, you can go into programming section 15 and turn off option 7 to disable the telephone line monitor; and section 380 and turn off option 1 to disabel communicator.
For most ADT installs, the installer code is 6321.
press *8 + [installer code]
press 380
press 1
press #
press 15
press 7
press # until it goes back to run mode."
I first turned off power, then back on and re-entered time and date. Then did the above using 6321 as the installer code. The system light went away.
Thank you very much.

A silent viewer here. Was having pblm with DSC1555 panel to get instant siren after STAY button activated. Spent a full day trying to set registers and no luck until I read your post about the Exit delay {005} also is active on STAY. Just a big thank you for the heads up!!!!! Jim
