You would have to swap out the existing wireless reciever for the next larger model. You cannot simply add another receiver. Multiple recievers cannot co-exist on a Vista-20P.

Will any of the programming be lost? or is it just a swap-out?

For Ademco hardware, the reciever is just an interface. The information about transmitters is stored in the panel itself. So it should be just a swap.

How many wireless zones are you currently using?
If you are asking can you add more wireless devices, that depends on if you are using all 16 zones. But say you have 2 key fobs and 1 Wireless motion, and 2 wireless door contacts. That would equal 11 zones if you used all 4 on each key fob, leaving you 5 more wireless zones open.

But adding the most zones to a 20P you can add you can buy a 5881ENH.
Ebay has lots of deals on receivers. I have seen many 5881ENH
sell NEW in the $40 range.

I paid $45 for my last receiver. Here is a recent example..

Hi Pete,

I reached the the 16 zone limit surprisingly fast. I had three fobs, three door contacts, and two smokes. Upon enrolling the last smoke I received the dreaded E8 message/error code and backed off some of the zones on the fobs. I now have three zones left, but I still have three unprotected perimeter windows and two PIR's to enroll, so I am try to see if I should just juggle what I have or spring for a 5881 ENH....I was unsure if I could just add another wireless module or if I had to trash the wireless module I just bought a few weeks ago....I guess I was unaware how quickly those wireless zones get used up.....

That's one of the drawbacks of the Ademco wireless system: The keyfobs individual buttons eat zone slots. Most other designs the entire keyfob uses a single zone slot (in some cases the keyfobs have a seperate register from the zones).

The tradeoff is that the ademco style wireless is really reliable, and the parts are dirt easy to find.

ebay

I too was interested in adding wireless ability to my 20p system, so I tried the ebay approach. Read below what the issue is when what you get is new out of the box, but does not function!
------------------------------
I have a 5881ENL and am adding many wireless motion and smoke sensors, so I picked up a "new" 5881ENH to give me more wireless zones. Using an Ademco 20p panel.

When I connect the new ENH unit in the same location, same wire-to locations, same address, and then power up and try a wireless remote, or wireless sensor(motion)...I get no response. Replace it with the old ENL...unit works fine.

Antenna in right side mount; wiring looks good.

The green LED does flash about every 10-15 seconds. The red LED is off at all times. I tried switch #4 to on (all the others are in off) and got a Check 100 RF Receiver message on keypad.

On the Rcvr panel, it shows SA 5882-5 D J102 W293353; Listed as 5881ENH on box.

I have check everything numerous times, but still no luck. Pete over at homesecurity mentioned to ask you for your thoughts.

Is it a defective unit? Any ideas on what I might try to determine the problem.

Thanks for your time,
Bob
---------------------------------

Now I am looking at buying another unit. ebay? Humm.
