Question Can I install the Vista 20P panel in the attic?

The temperature in the attic can reach 90-100 degree (in the Summer) or can be as low as 35-40 degree (in the Winter). Can the panel operate in those conditions? Beside the panel, I will have the wireless receiver and cell backup unit in the attic as well.

Thanks, hdp.

You _can_ but those are pretty rough operating conditions for the system. In the long run, it will cut the life of the system.

I am OK as long as the panel DOES NOT send out false alarm signals, will it? (I mean when it's too cold or too hot).

That's the trick. It can. We are talking about semiconductors and heat, as well as the lifespan of the backup battery. Any of these things can produce unpredictable glitches.

I see panels installed in attic locations here in FL, but it does have it's drawbacks.

I decided to put the panel on the first floor and only move the wireless receiver and cell backup unit to the attic (I don't want them to be too close to my kids bedrooms). Do you see any other problems?

Thanks, hdp.

After moving the long range radio (7845CV2) to the attic and power up the panel, I get the message "Check 103 lng rng radio...". After I press User code + Off, the message went away. But the Yellow status light on the radio keeps flashing rapidly, sometime green/red LED blink rapidly for a few seconds then stop (like it's trying to send messages). The radio has good signal strength (maximum). All I did was replace the cable with a longer cable to move the unit up the attic.
Do I need to do any thing to the radio(reinitialize/reprogram, etc.) after reapply to power to the panel and the radio?

Any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.

From the installation manual for this device:
Green flashing rapidly: Rapid Blinking
(with Yellow lit
or rapid
blinking). Red
briefly blinking
rapidly.
There was a transmission error that may or may
not mean that the message reached AlarmNet.
The message will be retried if this occurs.

Yellow flashing rapidly: Blinking rapidly,
continuously
Waiting for message validation after successful
transmission

Red flashing rapidly: Blinking rapidly,
briefly
Transmit error. The transmission attempt was
unsuccessful due to a busy cell system, poor
signal or Current Limit Mode.

Basically, these are all cell signal connection issues. You may simply have a poor quality (not strength) signal in that location.

There's not a lot of programming/reset that you can do on one of these things. They require their own special external programmer.

Thank you MrRonFL.
Here is what I notice: If I disable the radio in the panel (*29), the radio seems to be OK. Green and Red LEDs are off, yellow LED blinks every second (normal oeration). As soon as I enable the radio in the panel, yellow LED blinks rapidly, once in a while the green LED blinks for a few seconds and stop. Red LED is off. It seems like it keeps sending something. but I didnot trigger any zones.
I will try to move it to a different location tonight.

Ummm, has this cellular dialer ever been activated for AlarmNet?

If it hasn't then that's your problem. These dialers only work with their specific network, and programming them can only be done by a dealer.

A few inches to the right does the trick. I just don't understand why it's so sensitive.
Thank you MrRonFL.
