Thumbs up DSC LCD 600 Keypad Renaming Zone Names

Hi,

I have searched the old posting and couldn't find anything on how to rename a zone name. I have purchased an additional LCD 600 keypad for my PC3000 system. The original keypad was an LED one not LCD. The LCD keypad displays the zone names wrong, e.g. for bathroom window it displays OFFICE. Can anyone help me in changing the zone names. I have downloaded the "INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL" for LCD 600 but it doesn't cover zone name changing. Also I have user's manual and installation manual for my DSC PC 3000 system, neither one cover "zone naming".

Thanks for your time!

It looks to me like it is a Keypad Programming thing...

Do you have the keypad instructions?

http://www.panelguides.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=53&func=download&filecatid=404

Here are part of the instructions

Programming Zone Labels
With the panel in the "disarmed" state, enter the LCD keypad programming mode as follows:

Press[*], [8] and when prompted, enter the Installer's Code.
The display will read..

Enter 2 Digits
for PQM Section

Press EITHER scroll key to enter the LCD keypad programming section.
The display will read..

Enter the zone number for the zone label you wish to add, change or delete.
PC3000 enter two digits 01 through 16.
PC2550 ..........................01 ............08.
PC2500 ..........................01 ............08.
PC1550 ..........................01 ............06.
PC1500 ..........................01 ............06.

Note: The cursor will always appear under the first character.
To change or add zone label text:

1. Move cursor to the character you wish to change by using the "cursor left"
[ I ] or "cursor right" [3] keys.

2. Use the 'next character' [>] key to move forward through the alphabet and
the 'previous character' [<] key to move backwards in order to select the desired character. The characters 'a' - 'z', 'A' - 'Z' and '0' - '9' can be selected with these keys. Use the "case toggle" [4] to select either 'UPPER' or 'lower' case characters.

3. A table inside the back cover shows the complete list of characters available. If a character is needed that is not selectable by the [<] [>] keys, then move the cursor to the location where you want the character and press
[7] followed by the 3 digit code under the character.

4. Move the cursor to each location in turn and bring up the desired character.
Note: Maximum label length is 12 characters.
