dsc power 632 repair or replace?

I purchased a home about 4 years ago the previous owner had a attic fire. The security system wiring was damaged and never repaired. The system component inside the house were not damaged. I have since decided to try to use this as a local system. I have replaced the melted wireing and powered up the system. I have a few trouble codes. The system has not been pluged up for several years so I guess the battery is dead, the time is wrong, and the phone line is not connected. I have no idea what the password is or any installer code. I know it was an ADT installed system. Is there any hope using this system or any of the components. The system consist of PC1555, PC5508, (3) door contacts, (1) glass break sensor. Any help would be appreciated.

Try entering *8 6321. If the system beeps rapidly and the program/system light comes on, then you will be able to access programming and change the master code. If it works, for now just press # until it goes back to run mode and let us know so we can help you with the next step.

If you don't have at least the user manual, you can get that from the WWW.DSC.COM website. If you are trying to do more than just change the master code you will want the installer manual.

If you just want a master code go to program by entering *8 6321.
Next enter 007
Enter the 4 digit master code you want to use.
Next enter 015; several of the zone LEDs will be lit
Press 7 and the #7 led will go out
Press #
Enter 380
Press 1
(these two turn off the dialer and the telephone line monitor)
Press # until the system returns to run mode.

At this point you should be able to use the instructions in the owners manual to set the clock (trouble #8 is clock needs setting)

I'm still getting trouble codes 1 & 4. I did get the time and date entered. I have not replaced the battery yet, that explanes code #1. But what about Code #4. I have a trouble light and the #1 is lit and no ready light. Could my zone 1 door sensor be bad? After creating a master code I can't arm the system , is this because i'm not getting a ready light which could be why i'm getting a lit #1 like a door is open?

Correct, open zone equals no ready light.

Zone contacts are relatively cheap and easy to find. Depending on the style, they can be a little bit of a pain to replace, but nothing earth shaking.

Solved door contact problem, no trouble arming or disarming. Only problem left is that I can't get the door chimes to work. Any ideas or instructions on this?

*4 is the command that turns the door chime on and off. So long as you are hearing other keypad beeps, the chime feature should be working unless the door you are trying to test is set for the wrong zone type. Interior zones, for example, do not chime.

After clearing all trouble codes, setting up new master codes, user access codes, replacing battery, etc. Last night without the system being armed I heard it beeping, trouble light was on with a code 4. I followed instruction on how to turn the dialer off and the line detection. I don't know if something didn't take or what. What do you suggest I try?

Check section 380. Option 1 may have already been off and you turned it back on.

Dsc 632

I just purchesed the DSC Power 632 from the Home Security Store on line. I had the system installed by a qualified electrician. I am have a question about programming the system and when I called DSC they said they only provide technical support to certified installers. When I called the Home Security Store and told them what I was looking for and asked them to make a suggestion as to which one I should purchase, the recommended the DSC 632 knowing I'm purchasing it for my own personal use in my own home. Any advice? Here's my question: The person that did my wiring played around with the keypad and pressed the installer code 3 times and now I'm totally locked out. How do I get in?
Thanks,
Michelle
