DSC Power 832 assist needed
Hello,
I recently reviewed your threads and it helped me reset/default my DSC unit.
I have discovered my programming password to be 5010, and I reset my master password.
I have EOL resistors on the four zones connected.
zone 1=back door/sliding glass
zone 2=motion
zone 3=front door
zone 4=garage entry door to house
I am having difficulties programming. I keep getting all four zones lit up on my led keypad display...like there's a communication error. Here's what I've tried:
I tried multiple times to set zone delays (001) to have 01 on front and garage doors, 03 on rear door, and 05 on motion. I also did (015) 7 to disable phone line monitor and (380) 1 to turn off communicator.
I tried to use EOL resistor setting to define zones (013) to have 3, 6, 7 led lit up, and 1, 2, and 4 not lit...I'm suspecting this is where I may be going wrong? All four zones have EOL resistors installed.
Needless to say I'm the typical guy who bought a house w/ a security system already installed w/o any info from seller. I downloaded your files on IM, UM, and PW...I've read through them all and I'm totally stuck at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot figure out where I'm lost.

Since you have zone resistors installed (I'm assuming that there are dummy resistors on the unused zones), option 1 in section 13 needs to be off.
For your zone types your entrys in section 001 should be:
03 05 01 01 00 00 00 00
If zone 3, the front door, is not closing, check to see if the magnet in the door is aligned with the contact in the door frame. Often, people repair or replace the door and forget to adjust/replace the stupid little magnet. Remember, there's a physical switch at the other end of the wire...
6 & 7 showing open as unused zones means that either the wrong size resistor is in place, or you accidentally programmed these zones for one of the more specialized zone types.

Generally, pressing # repeatedly will escape out of program mode.
For the magnets, places like Radio Shack stock them. You will have to buy a full set of contacts. They generally run about 4-7 dollars a set.
Refrigerator magnets won't reliably work. It sounds like you have the press fit type contacts on the door. It takes a fairly specific magnet configuration to trip one of these.

Thanks for all of the help Ron...
But the keypad is still stuck. It won't respond...
Pressing # a million times didn't help...I held it down and Program light went off but Trouble light illuminated...still no response to anything else...tried everything I could think of...master code, program code, program mode...nothing...not even any sound when I hit the keys...
I also tried unplugging battery and AC to master box...left no power for a while...no fix...returns to locked in program mode.
I even tried defaulting my system again but no success.
Thanks again for the help and hopefully I didn't fry something!
Another side note...I did pry a press fit out of one of my door jambs...just to look at it...I put it back but was wondering if I messed up the system by doing that???

I suspect that you accidentally set the keypad to "global" (which doesn't mean what you think it means). Try holding down the 1 key for a few seconds. The keypad should become active so that you can go to program and change the keypad address from 01 to 11.
Keystroke sequence:
go to program
000
0
11
exit programming.
If not, check the connections. If either the yellow or green wires have come loose, you can get some odd effects.

Hi Ron...
2 steps forward one step back!
Keypad is unlocked now (Thank you!)
I bought new sensors for front doors...
Now my zone 3 and 4 are both entry doors (front door and garage door to house)...working fine.
But since I did that my motion sensor and sliding glass door are down. The zone lights 1 and 2 are lit and I can't figure out why.
History...zone 1 and 2 were my only working zones.
zone 1 is the slider...worked fine...even door chime worked on keypad
zone 2 is the motion...also worked fine.
threw in a couple of press-fit sensors identical to what I had (magnets were missing so i bought new) onto zones 3 and 4 which used to show as open...now they're closed and working fine (chimes and all)...
but like i said...1 and 2 are not working...tried your code to reprogram all zones...just like before...but not working. tried resetting EVERYTHING...nothing fixing...did default reset...reset keypad, etc...
any ideas?

Try putting dummy resistors on the zones that are showing as open. If they then close, then you need to trouble shoot your zone wiring. If you have zones that are properly working with resistors in the loop, the the remaining opens have to be the field wiring.
