Vista 20P Motion Detector programming issues

I've recently added a new keypad to my system in the upstairs. I've gotten the new keypad addressed & working just fine. Now what I'm wanting to do use the stay & nightstay mode correctly.

I want all downstair motions & doors to immediately sound alarm when tripped in the nightstay mode while allowing the upstairs motions to chillout. I've programmed *84 to 00.

What zone type do I program in *56 for the downstair motion detectors vs the upstairs detectors & what keypad commands do I use to arm the system correctly??

When do I program zone type 20 verses 21??

I've tried both types (20 & 21) for the upstairs motions...but it will not trip the alarm in the AWAY mode...even after I've opened & closed the entry/exit door. The only way that I can get the downstair motions to do what I want at night is to program them as type 03 (perimeter).

Any help??

This is where you are getting into a slightly more complex bit of programming and setup. First, you are getting your zone types confused. Types 20 and 21 are for _arming_ the system with a keyfob button. They're not an alarm initiating zone type.

The correct zone type for all motion detectors is type 04 (interior follower)

In order to do what you are trying to do, you need to program the downstairs motion zone into the night stay zone list (5) in programming section *81 in order for it to be excluded from autobypass in night stay mode.

If you do that all motions will bypass in stay and instant mode, and only the upstairs ones will bypass in night stay mode.
