Ademco 6139 upgrade to 6150

I currently have the Ademco 6139 and I'm trying to replace the unit because the keypad does not work as well. I was told that the Ademco 6139 is obsolete and that the Honeywell/Ademco 6150 would work. I was trying to install the 6150 but noticed a different connector. Is there an adapter to connect it? If so, what kind? Also, do I need to power down the system before I switch to the new unit. Thanks in advance.

First 6150 is actually a functional step _down_. To have the same functions as your old keypad you need the 6160. That said, it will still work.

Yes, power down before swapping components.

Your old keypad probably had a quick connect plug on the back. The new one likely has screw clamp terminals. Just match the wire colors to the labels on the terminals (red black green yellow) to match the existing pigtail connection.
