Concord 4 Disable Siren

Hi I just installed the GE Concord 4 DIY today.

I have an old [grandfathered] 2 wire siren that is above the alarm. With the old system, the siren was activated when the alarm would go off. All other communication was with the keypad beeps.

With the new system, the Siren beeps every time I do something with the keypad. For example, when I hit status, the keypad and the siren beeps.
When I arm the system the siren gives consecutive beeps.

The siren is very loud. Is it possible to just arm the siren in a way that it only beeps when the alarm is activated, using the keypad to provide all other sounds.

Thanks,
George

What terminals is the siren wired to?

It sounds like it was wired to either output 1 or 2. All you have to do is program the output. I can walk you through this after I know where the siren is currently wired to...

One wire is going to output 2 and the other is going to 12+.

Thanks,

Ok, easy enough..

You don't have to touch the wires. All we have to do is change a little programming.

At your LCD keypad (I'm assuming you have one, and not the Fixed English) enter 8+installer code +00. The keypad will read "SYSTEM PROGRAMMING" enter "11111". This will bring you to "Configuration 01710". You need to change this number to "00414".

This will get rid of status beeps through the siren and only give you audible alarm sounds.

One more quick question. I understand that STAY mode is used with a closed perimeter - like activating the alarm at night. In our case it would include 3 door sensors, but not the motion detector.

I have the motion detector hardwired to ZONE 5. It works fine, but even with the STAY mode it trips the alarm. How would I be able to program STAY mode to exclude the internal motion detector?

Thanks,

George

In programming go, to the "SENSORS" menu. Under "Edit Sensors", change sensor 5 from a group 13 to a group 17. It will then only be active when you arm to "AWAY".

I have a Concord alarm with what I believe must be a fixed display. It was installed in our new house and there is not documentation. I have been able to find most of the documentation, but cannot access the installer mode 8432100 (it just beeps).

What LCD can I get to work with this. I have a spot in my master bedroom for another panel, so I will just put it there. I just don't want to buy the wrong one. Thanks in adance.

Go with the ATP1000
It's newer and costs the same as the older 2X16.
It has a removable door and a bigger display...
