Help-AT&T 8300 reset password

Can anybody help me reset the password for a AT&T System 8300? It has (2) 6345 keypads. Previous owners did not leave have the code, now we have purchased the house and would like to get the alarm system to work.

have searched all over the net, can even really find out anything on any aspect of this system, is it another brand with the AT&T name on it?

thanks,
Rob

If you run a websearch using the phrase "at&t 8300 security alarm install manual" you will get several hits that will lead to end user manuals.

Install manuals are much harder. I haven't had much luck with these systems, myself. There was a span of time during the late 80s and early 90s when a lot of major companies jumped into the alarm hardware business. The bulk of them bailed within about 5 years, on average, leaving GE, Honeywell, DSC, and a handful of others with the lion's share of the hardware market.

This is a true "orphan" system. I would strongly recommend that you upgrade to modern hardware.

By this time you have probably already found out. If you pressed the reset on cpu, it defaulted panel.
This panel was way ahead of its time. Think Apex. It had one major flaw. A lithium battery to provide power to save programming. To change that battery you had to remove power. Which meant reprogramming from scratch. You are not going to do that, to put it bluntly. Upgrade, if you want the same features use an Apex 6100

“AT&T Home Security System - Changing The House Security Code”

6

The 3 digit security code which arms and disarms the AT&T Home Security System is defined by 3 color coded wires placed over pins in each of your wireless keypads and is easily changed, even if you do not know what the your current security code is. The house security code is not set or coded in the CC!

Keep in mind that because of the color coded wires and associated circuit board pins in each wireless keypad, it is not possible to define a repeating digit security code. For example, the following are impossible security codes: 999, 990, or 001.

To change your systems security code:

- If you know your home's current security code, take a wireless keypad to the central controller (CC), enter your security

code into the keypad and press the "off" button. Now immediately press the "Test\Demo" button on the CC and then press

and hold all CC buttons until "C.C." appears on the LCD display.

- If you do not know the security code for your home, go to the CC and remove the 2 flat blade screws holding the front cover

to the CC chassis. Now remove the positive wire from the CC's internal battery and then unplug the CC's power adapter.

With the battery and power adapter disconnected, the CC's internal memory will be cleared of the house security code.

- Open the back of each wireless keypad device and find 3 colored wires, which can be moved between 9 pins, split between

connector P1 and P2.

- Move the BLUE wire to the pin corresponding to the 1st digit of the new code.

- Move the WHITE wire to pin, which corresponds, to the 2nd digit of the new code.

- Move the YELLOW wire to the pin, which corresponds to the 3rd digit of the new code.

- For example: Security code 370 would have the blue wire on pin 3, the white wire would be on pin 7 and the yellow wire

would be on pin 0.

Once you have changed all wireless keypads and are sure they all have the same security code "wired" and you knew your home's security code before you started, just go to the CC and press ""Test\Demo" button. Now enter the new security code into a wireless keypad and press "off". The wireless keypad will now transmit a signal that the CC will receive and recognize as a security code and you should hear the CC respond with a system "beep.". The CC will now remember the new security code.

If you did not know your home's security code before you changed it, following the instructions above, return to the CC, connect the removed battery wire to the positive terminal, reattach the the CC's front cover and then plug back in the CC's power adapter. Now enter your new security code into a wireless keypad and press the "off" key. The CC will receive the wireless keypad signal and record it as the security code. When you press the "off" button, you should hear the CC respond with a "beep."

i have several 8240 wireless transmitters on the windows and the house code is set to 237.

i do not have a woreless keypad, they are both hardwired.

is there any way to reset the sytem to start from scratch on programming? I only want to monitor the doors and windows which have hardwired/magnet switches.

I have the user code to arm/diarm the system, but i do not have the installer code to get into programming mode.

again, on the pcb i do not have an actual switch where the reset switch is shown in the manual, can smebody trace which circuit i can jumper to get it to reset, as in everything back to factory defaults.

thanks,
Rob
