DSC5010/PC5010 w/automation unit DSC5580
How do I reprogram the dial-out phone number so that it calls my cell phone instead of monitoring company's # (I use to have Protection 1 but discontinued service last year)? I have the installation manual for the 5580 but it's not in there. (or I'm missing it)

Welcome to the Forums!
Please read this stickie regarding cell phone calling.

Basically, you can have it call your cell phone, but it will give you no information except a fax machine beeping type noise. If that's what you want, let us know.
You do know the installer code?
Here's the install manual. Look at secion 5.4

I thought the installer code was 5010, but after I enter *8 then 5010 on the key pad, I expected the program light to flash and the armed light to turn on. That is not happening. It makes a long sound and that's it. How do I determine the installer code? I noticed that this manual that you provided is for version 2 and my unit is version is 1. Could the instructions be different?

Click on the Alarm FAQ's in this forum, it's a sticky.
It will explain how to default the panel. Sometimes there is a installer lockout which makes it difficult to reset.
Try *8 1500 for giggles.

I tested to see if the installer lockout was enabled. I did not hear the clicks so I am concluding that it's not. The instructions say to remove a wire from pgm 1. I don't have a wire in pgm1. I have one in pgm2. But I foillowed the instructions and jumped a wire between pgm1 and z1 and then applied power. nothing happened. so i removed the wire from pgm2 and jumped it to z1. the zone 1 light came on the keypad. after i reconnected everything back, all of zone lights were on but went off after i moved in front of the motion sensor to activated it or I opend a door. afterwards, the alarm went back to normal and none of these code still don't work. all of my original programming and codes are still in the unit. it was as if nothing had happened.

The instructions are pretty specific. If there is nothing wired to PGM-1, then you just use a wire jumper. They are just being clear that any existing wiring on those terminals needs to be disconnected while you are doing this.
"Factory Default Main Panel (Hardware)
Step 1 - Remove AC and battery from the panel.
Step 2 - Remove all wires from the Zone 1 and PGM1 terminals.
Step 3 - With a piece of wire short the Zone 1 terminal to the PGM1 terminal.
Step 4 - Apply AC power to the main panel.
Step 5 - When Zone Light 1 is lit on the keypad the default is complete.
Step 6 - Remove AC power from the control
Step 7 - Reconnect all original wiring and power up the control"
