ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 / Vista 20P Master Code Reprogram

Hello -

I have looked, and found information on how to reprogram my master code in an ADT provided Safewatch Prp 2000 (aka Vista 15/20p?).

I know (and tested) my installers code. I believe the correct method to reprogram the master code using the installers code is (in operational mode, not programming mode):

Installer Code + 8 + 02 + 4 digit new Master Code

When I do this, the keyboard beeps as if something happened. However, I cannot add or delete users, the reason I need the master code.

Does someone smarter than me see the error of my way?

Thanks,
Matt

ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 / Vista 20P Master Code Reprogram

Hello Again!

OK - I think I found the answer to my own question in your forums - but it goes against everything the manuals say. On page 6-4 of the Vista 15P and 20P Installation Manual, it says:

"Changing the System Master Code...
Using the Installer Code: Installer Code + [8] + 02 + new code"

On my system, the working keystrokes were:
Installer Code + [8] + 01 new code

I found the link to my answer here:
http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?t=239142

My question is this: Can anyone tell me if I misidentified my system or if the manual is incorrect?

Thanks,
Matt

The master code is held in position 02, while the installer code is held in position 01. My question is your terminology. You sure you are trying to change the master code, but mean the installer code? Also on the 20P you have to delete a code before you can add one to an existing position.

Thanks for the question. I am trying to change what the manual refers to as the "System Master Code". I understand this to be separate from the Installers Code.

I was unaware of the requirement to delete a code before changing it.

I have since been able to change the Master Code via:
Installer Code + 8 + 01 + New Code.

The changed the Master Code and left the Installers Code the same. I hope this makes my inquiry clearer.

Add Security Code: System/Partition Master code + [8] + user no. + new user’s security code
Users 03/33 are preset
User 01 = installer
User 03 = partition 1 master to partition programmers,
User 02 = master
User 33 = partition 2 master but can be changed. The Keypad beeps once to confirm that new user was added.

This straight from the users manual for a 20P, unless there is a difference between the ADT version which is the SWP 2000.

So if I am reading your post correctly, the correct key sequence to reprogram the Master Code using the Installation Code for the ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 (aka Honeywell Vista 15p/20P) should be:

Installer Code + 8 + 02 + 4 digit New Code

Am I reading your message correctly? If I am, then I must have misidentified my system. The code sequence that successfully reprogrammed the the Master Code for partition 1 is:

Installer Code + 8 + 01 + 4 digit New Code

I am as confused as you because you are correct is stating that the manual for this system has your key sequence. It just doesn't work.

How old is the system? It sounds to me that it is a Vista-20SE. That is the way that you changed it in those panels. SWP 2000 has been around for sometime and it could be a 20SE version. How big is the circuit board? 3 inches or 5-6 inches?

The SW-2000 is a modified Vista-20SE. You are, in fact, using the wrong directions.
