first alert alarm

I have a First Alert FA148C security system in which the chimes keep going off about twice per day. The manual says I need to replace a battery but does not give me instructions on how to accomplish this. Does anyone know how to replace this chime battery?

It is not the "chime battery". You have the system set to "chime" when the doors are opened. You, also have a low "battery". These are unrelated. You need to find the main control panel (a metal box in a closet or unfinished space). Once you find this box, you will need to open the cover it may be held with a screw or secured with a lock. If there is a lock, look for the key on top of the panel. Once inside, you will see a large black battery at the bottom with two wires attached. Remove the battery and replace with a 12 volt sealed-lead battery 4-7 aH. To clear "battery" from the display, enter your code + 1 twice.
