Factory reset keypads - DSC 5010

I installed a DSC 5010 system with 2 keypads, one LCD and one LED. Both keypads worked, until I programmed them into slots. Now, neither keypad responds with beep or * command. Went thru panel factory reset with no luck. Programming manual says press *8(Code) then 99, but neither keypad responds to *8 command at all. I'm assuming I must have programmed slots wrong, but not sure how. In any case, how can I reset the keypads if they don't respond to the *8?

Thanks in advance

I'm guessing that you set the keypads as "global" (which doesn't mean what you think it means"

From the FAQ:
"DSC Power series keypad stopped responding during programming process:
It's easy to accidentally set a keypad as a "global" or to a non-existant partition. When addressing the keypads if you enter 01 (for example) for the address you have set it as "global" which means it displays no information until you select a partition. Press and hold 1 until the keypad wakes up. Reenter keypad programming and change it to 11 (partition 1, keypad 1)."

(use a different address for the second keypad, obviously)
