DSC PC1616 controlled by mobile phone

I'm aware that this probably comes up quite often. I've read some other posts on the forum, but couldn't find exactly what I needed to know.

I have recently installed a DSC alarm and was informed by someone that I could have the alarm call my mobile and then use my phone to deactivate the alarm. So far I've managed to get a phone call but have no luck communicating back to the alarm. Are there any Communicator formats that both phone and alarm will understand or will I need to purchase a module.
I also have a communication error since the alarm rang my phone which wont go away.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Check out the sticky about alarms calling cell phones, as well as the FAQ.

Your trouble is because you tried to have it call using an alarm reciever format. To to what you want, you need to use "private line" as the outgoing format. Take a look at the communication format descriptions (on pages 38-39 of my copy of the reference manual).
