Add wireless motion to Safewatch 3000/vista 20-p

About 2 years ago we had (and probably over paid for) an ADT Safewatch Pro 3000 wireless system installed. Now that I have finished the basement I would like to add a wireless motion sensor which ADT quoted an outrageous $$ figure for.

After reading through the forums I'm aware I have an Ademco Vista 20-p and I have found the installation manual online and know my installer code is 6321.

My questions are:
1) The key pad is a touchscreen ( 6270 Touch Screen Alpha Keypad). - Will I be able to use that to add the zone?

2) The 5890PI wireless motion sensor ( http://www.homesecuritystore.com/ezS...?productID=355 ) looks like the ones I currently have but the description says it is only for use with Q.E.D. control panels. - What is a Q.E.D control panel, will this sensor work?

3) How difficult is the process of adding the sensor, am I fool for trying it on my own?

4) I am paying ADT 30.99 a month to monitor the alarm and fire sensors in the house. Am I getting ripped off and should choose someone else to monitor (I am not under contract)? How do I find a reputable, but cheaper, monitoring company (Berks county Pennsylvania, about an hour west of Philadelphia), any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any help?

QED is just Ademco's trade name for the programming language they use. All of their systems made in the last 10 years or so use it.

The keypad you have will emulate the 2-line alpha keypad, just realize that in that mode, it will have a bit of lag time, so don't try to rush.

The biggest thing is to check and see which receiver model you have, to make sure you have the zone space for the new device.

Just look through the posts in this forum. Adding devices to Ademco design panels comes up several times a week.
