Unhappy Window / Door Sensor Removal

I had a very close lightning strike recently and most of the zones in my home security system don't work. I can arm and disarm the system but only one zone, the patio door, is operational. I was going to attempt to remove the magnetic sensor contacts to replace them but am having a dificult time removing the sensor side of the contact. All of my contacts are of the recessed button plug type.

Is there a trick to removal, or it just by brute force and praying the original installer left wire slack to work with?

Or better yet... is there any method / tools I can use to determine which are bad and need to be replaced?

Thanks

The latter: Use a small flat blade screwdriver and hope the original installer left slack, otherwise, you will be removing trim or patching drywall.
