DSC 1832 Ground Wire

Someone just finished helping me install the DSC 1832 and dsc keypads to replace the existing old Control Unit and Keypads.

All seems well except there is an unconnected ground wire (green) in the 1832 left over from prior (Radionics) installation. We were told that the ground wire in the DSC 1832 installation should not be used!

Does that make sense? Is this true? Thanks

In general, it's not needed. In the days when telephones needed 4 wires instead of 2, the ground was needed so that the alarm could supervise the phone line. If you residential electric wiring is really old (ungrounded outlets, etc.) you might want to land the ground wire, otherwise, ignore it.
