"Low Bat" Vista 20p 6160 keypad

I Just installed a brand new vista 20p (hw only) without a Battery Back-up (no battery)... I did however, connect an old battery from my old system for a few minutes just to see if it would hold the system.I can't seem to get rid of the "low bat" and chirp from my 6160. I have powered off & on...*63 says 63 even when I enter 00 & *99...I know it must be my bad eye,,,what am I missing here...thanks in advance

The system will always look for a backup battery.

So...... KC, I've been thinking alone that the vista could operate fine with no pwr back-up (as long as there are no pwr interuptions)...and you're saying I'll get that "system low bat" with a constant chirp if a battery is not connected to the system? No way to disable it and just run the vista on ac??

thanks

That's correct, the panel needs the backup battery. I don't believe you can get around this.

No, you cannot turn off the battery test. *63 only sets the monitoring report of the battery condition. Install a good battery.
