DSC PC1550/1500 Default Questions

Hi,

Much like the other posters, I have a DSC 1550 rev4 control panel without the master code. I also do not know the installer code. I've powered on the system and it does not appear that it is installer locked out, which is good.

I tried setting a new installer code with the information from the FAQ, but that did not work. It seems I'm left to default the alarm.

I have the installer manual, and do not think I will have issues programming the device. When reading through the install guide, there are several options that appear specific for a monitored alarm.

My question is this: When defaulting the alarm, what is the bare minimum to program to get the alarm functional again, ie. six zones, system time, master code, change install code, etc. etc.

Is there a recommended set of settings that need to be programmed in an unmonitored scenario. My suspicion is, if I ever were to get a monitored service, they would re-program all of the other necessary information for their monitoring service.

The only thing you didn't mention was turning off the dialer and phone line monitor functions (these default to ON), otherwise, I think you have the basics. There's only 30 or so programming locations, and you actually need to work with only about 6-10 of them to get the system functional.

Thanks much.. The alarm is operational again. It needs a new battery, but that's to be expected as it has been powered down for over 4 years.

This forum is an amazing source of info. I really appreciate the help!

Hello Maedros, Would you please send me the steps for installing the pC1550, I spent some time reading through the manual, but could not figure out. I was able to reset everything to factory settings but having hard time figuring out all the needed options without the monitoring. please help..

Prog. Safewatch Pro. 3000 using 6150 keypad

I recently bought a condo that came with an ADT Safewatch Pro 3000EN alarm panel. Four of the D/W sensors are missing. The system displays "Check" for the zone numbers of the 4 missing transmitters. I bought 4 transmitters on Ebay and would like to add the new transmitters to the system. However, the panel is equipped with a model 6150 keypad. I can not find any postings on how to delete old zones and enroll new ones using this model keypad. Installer ID + 800 + 56 returns a blank screen and does not return a menu screen. How was this panel programmed during the original installation? What steps are required to delete or add zones using the 6150 keypad. The system arms after power on for a few hours until the missing zones causes a fault related lock out. Thanks for your help.

Adding a new kepad to a Vista 20AMTE system

I have a question about adding a new keyboard to an existing 10 year old Ademco system. I have searched and read, but haven’t quite been able to put the pieces together. The alarm system I have was installed by Ameritech prior to their being bought out by ADT (it is also currently monitored by ADT). The alarm panel is a Vista 20AMTE, which seems to be a standard Vista 20 panel with a few custom program options/presets (or so the manual addendums seem to indicate). At present I have one wired keypad model 6139, along with wireless module and a 5827BD wireless keypad. I have an additional 6160 keypad that I would like to add to the system. The 6139 keypad is currently set to non-addressable mode, address 31. After reading many posts, it seems that I have to change the address of the 6160 keypad to something between 17 and 30. I believe I also have to set the original 6139 keypad to address 16. However, in the installation manual (left by the installer by request at install - be nice to these guys - it pays!), it states that addressable keypads must be set to non-addressable mode, address 31. Does anyone know which is correct? Does anything else have to be altered in the panel programming to allow the use of two keypads, and if so, what and in what order? And finally, does the system have to be fully powered down with the battery removed to add the keypad, or can it be hot plugged? Thanks in advance.
