You need to remember to add the suffix at the end of the model number, there are many programming and command differences between a Vista 10se and a Vista 10p, for example.
That said; in this case it doesn't matter. Ademco hasn't changed the bypass command since the first Vista panels.
"Bypassing Zones: Enter code + BYPASS [6] + zone number(s)."
If you are using this keystroke sequence, you can't hesitate too long between keystrokes, or it exits bypass mode.
Also, make sure you are using a user code that is not set as an "arm only" or "guest" code, which cannot bypass zones.

_That_ depends, somewhat, on your proper system model. The different versions have different secondary functions to try.
There is are big differences between a Vista 10, Vista 10se, and Vista 10p.

Ah, it's the oldest version of the Vista-10. You don't even have the option of variable code authority, all user codes can bypass.
Two things:
When you use the bypass keystrokes, you cannot hesitate more than a couple of seconds between keystrokes, or it kicks out of bypass mode.
You have to wait for it to display the bypassed zone(s) before you try to arm. It's kinda slow.
That's it. No special tricks, no secret handshake.

Ok, try this:
Unplug the phone connection
Disconnect the battery, then disconnect AC power.
Restore AC power
Within 50 seconds, press * + #
It should come up in program mode
Press #20 it will read back the master code one digit at a time (ignore the leading zeros).
Press *99
Reconnect the battery
Try using the master code to bypass.
If the master code will not allow you to bypass, then the download software was used to disable the ability to bypass zones (this is sometimes done in commercial systems).
If so, then there is nothing you can do about it.
By the way, the zone(s) you are trying to bypass aren't smoke/fire zones, are they? Those can not be bypassed.
