Ademco LYNXRH-IT

Hello,

I just moved back into my house in Italy that I have been renting out for the last 7 years. Back then, we had the Ademco LYNXRH-IT installed and running. The last tenant we had living here was complaining the system kept false alarming, the installer we had for the system was arrested for robbing the houses he was installing the systems in (ours did get robbed after the system was installed, 3 times) therefore I cannot call him back, so the tenant just pulled the red cable to shut it off.

Now that we are back in the house, I am trying to get the system working but I do not know the master code. I have downloaded a user manual for the system and it tells me I need a master code to do some things. How do I completely reset the system to factory defaults, even for the master code. This way i can reprogram the zones and get the system working again.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Gregg

First, if you don't have one, get the installer manual.

Like nearly all Ademco design alarms, if you press * + # within 50 seconds of restoring power, it will jump into programming mode.

press #20 and it will read back the installer code 1 digit at a time.

Exit programming with *99, then use the installer code to set a new master user code.

Phantom fault/ phantom tamper

Thanks, it worked. I thought I replied to this a year ago, but I guess not.

So, back to the original problem, system false alarming/phantom faults/phantom tamper notification. I found a thread with a similar issue,267587-ademco-w-wireless-motions, but it does not seem that it was ever resolved or a final solution to the main issue. What this person was describing is basically whats happening to me. Here is whats going on:

- When door is already closed, the chime/gong will sound and the voice will tell me that the door has been opened
- When door is already closed, the main unit will do rapid continuous beeps until I clear it with my code or by hitting the * (like when removing the cover of a sensor)
- When door is already opened, the chime/gong will continually sound and the voice will tell me that the door has been opened
- When door is already opened, the main unit will do rapid continuous beeps until I clear it with my code or by hitting the * (like when removing the cover of a sensor)
- The system will all of a sudden start functioning as normal, then once again out of the blue, it will start all over again
- Display constantly has the ZONE #, power, and open indicated (during the problem)

I have tried the following:

- replaced batteries with new ones
- checked the voltage of both old and new batteries (all good)
- removed batteries from functioning sensors, installed in problem sensors, problems remain, and functioning sensors remain functioning with the replaced batteries (left in this for few days to ensure system recognition)
- reprogrammed sensor to a different zone, problem remained
- placed system in sniffer mode to see if system sees the sensors, it does see the sensor on the first cycle but also sees zones that are not programmed (26 thru 34), then when it cycles back, no longer displays the zone or the zones before it
- sent emails to customer support with no response
- stopped myself from ripping system off the wall at 3am and smashing it to %@&*!!!!

My system consisted of 7 wireless entry sensors. Now with this one malfunctioning, it only consists of 4 functioning sensors. The other 2 malfunctioning sensors were exhibiting the same issues as I am describing. I removed those sensors from the programming as they were not in too critical of locations. However, this current sensor, and the remaining sensors, are in critical locations and I really do not want to de-program any of those zones.

Is it possible that the magnets are failing? Is there a way for me to check the sensors to see if the sensors are actually bad? Is there a way for me to check the main unit to see if the main unit is going bad or is that even a possibility? All sensors/equipment are in their original positions as originally installed.

The cost of replacing these sensors in Italy (3 of them) would be the same as if I was to purchase a complete system in the US. If I purchase these 3 sensors from the US and ship them here, the customs here would make up the difference in my savings in duty fees. If I have to do it, I will, thats not the issue. I just do not want to put money into an item when it is not definitely needed. Customer support, in Italy, is a non existent thing. Their first response is always, you need to buy a new system because we do not support that anymore, etc etc. The customer support I emailed was in the US and did not disclose my location.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Without seeing the location its very difficult to hazard a guess as to what's happening.

The fact that _many_ of the zones are giving you trouble makes me suspect that the receiver is the issue, and not the transmitters. Your instinct to start over with a new control is likely the correct one.

When you run the test, it checks for _all_ the zones it's capable of, on the second round, it only displays the ones not detected the first time.
