Missing RJ31X on ADT installed system
As I am prepping myself to disconnect my ADT service, I traced my phone line to my panel (Ademco Vista-20ADT). I found that I do not have an RJ31X. My system was installed by ADT about 10 years ago. My incoming phone line was intercepted and goes in/out my panel without an RJ31X.
Is/was this a common practice for ADT?

i would guess common by the installer himself.
it is a requirement to have a means of disconnect.
where does that wire go to??? maybe its at a rj-31 / 38 at the point of demarcation???
it can be located anywhere- just that there is one.

Some old school installers wired directly to the telecom terminals instead of via a RJ-31x jack. As long as you simply turn off the dialer in system programming, you can leave it alone like that; it shouldn't cause any issues.
There's no magic to a RJ-31x, it's just a specialized quick disconnect.

Once I get converted to my GSM, I'll disconnect from the panel and splice the wires. This is really not needed either as I an planning on shutting off my phone service.
