door/window monitor or motion detector

In looking at setting up a home security system I need some opinions on which to choose. A motion detector or door/window monitor

I have 2 attached garages each with 2 garage doors. One garage also has 2 regular door and the other has 1 regular door and 2 windows. Should I put a door sensor on each of these or would it be sufficient to just put a motion detector in each garage. Will the vehicle being parked there cause a problem?

I have the same dilemma with my sunroom which is full of windows. Do I need to put an alarm on each or will a motion detector be sufficient?

Thanks

In terms of reliability, door/window contacts should always be the first line, motions and glass breaks are _secondary_ devices.
