I have a Vista 10P system installed with a 6150 keypad in the living room of our home. All zones are either hard wired or IR sensors (no RF). The system works as it should. I recently installed a second 6150 keypad in our bedroom, but have yet to be able to make it work properly. The rest of the system still works fine. I've seen several threads that offer pieces of info related to making this work, but haven't been able to pull all of the pieces together. I have programmed the 2nd keypad to 17 using 1+3. I now have a blank screen on the keypad. The keypad is lit up and beeps when you push buttons, but doesn't actually control the system or display anything. The manual appears to indicate I need to use data field program mode *190 for the 2nd keypad... Q's: 1. What else do I need to do to enable the keypad? Do I just need to hit *190 on the keypad? 2. Do I need to enter program mode? 3. If so, can I (easily - I'm just a handy novice) program this keypad only using the fixed alpha-numeric 6150? 4. Or do I need a 6160 or equivalent? 5. What do I actually need to do in program mode? I was hoping this was just a quick add to the system...given that it is the same keypad already controlling the system. Thanks for any advice...

My current alarm system does nothing in regards to the windows. Here is what I am thinking of implementing: - key locks on all of the windows. This seems to be a fairly simple way to frustrate burglars. - glass break sensors in most rooms. - in the rooms that have only one window and in the kitchen (where glass can break on accident) I plan to use window sensors. If anyone sees any fundamental flaws in that plan, please let me know. one question, my windows are the type where either the bottom 1/2 can slide up or the top half can slide down. Can't a burglar easily circumvent window sensors by sliding the top 1/2 down?
