Question Safewatch 3000: Battery for Wireless Window Sensor

Could you tell me the proper way to change the battery in a wireless sensor? Sounds easy but I'm still getting the Low Batt on zone 19. I replaced it with a new battery. went to program mode and exited..... 10 minutes later, Low Batt on zone 19 again??? Thanks for your knowledge.

Make sure battery is installed properly and that the cover is back on properly. Then open and close the window to force the sensor to send a signal to the panel. Hit your code plus 1 a couple times. If all is well the panel should see that the battery is good.

True enough. They are notoriously bad about rotating their stock of low turnover items like specialty batteries. Oddly, I've had much better luck with Wal-mart.

I'm using fresh copper top batteries. Before I pop the battery out and get the tamper error, I thought I would ask about the procedure. I don't mind replacing the battery since my system is about 3.5 years old now, I think I will be doing it more often. Do I bypass the zone first, or what? Thanks for your advice......

No, just open the transmitter, change the battery put the cover back on, then enter your code +1 as if disarming the system. You may need to do it twice. Once to clear the cover tamper, and once to clear the low battery.

Normally that's all you need to do. Be careful to not damage the cover tamper switch or it won't set properly.

Solution

While talking to tech support, they had me take out the battery and place a paper clip between the terminals where the battery was. I left it there for about 10 seconds. They said something about a capacitor..... anyway that trick worked for me.Beer 4U2

I've had that happen on some older wireless smokes. Just installed jumper for a few seconds and it worked. Some of the capacitors won't release the old charge. Shorting them out seems to do the trick.
