Hello GE Security Installers, I am looking into a new security system to protect my new home. The house currently has a very basic ADT alarm system (2 motion detectors) installed which in my opinion protects nothing. So I started a quest months ago to find the right alarm system for me. After much review I have fallen in love with the GE Concord 4. I recently had an installer come to the house to do a in home consultation for a system that actually would offer some protection. After he left I was left with a [B]$4,000 quote [/B]for the Concord 4, wireless module, 4 Digital keypads, 1 internal siren, 4 wireless door contacts, 1 shock contact, 3 motion detectors, 2 Heat Detectors, 1 alarm.com module and 3 Smoke Detectors. I was expecting to pay half that especially since ADT and Brinks Systems are pricing out at under $1000 advertised price. I am in the DC metro area and everything is expensive here. Needless to say I can not see myself paying $4000 for an alarm system that is designed to protect a home with a $500 insurance deductable. At that rate I would have had to be broken into 8 time before the investment would make since. If that were to happen I would not need an alarm system would I just need a new neighborhood. Now Im looking for a way to get the install done but not pay the entire $4000. Though I am technical, I have not installed a security system myself. I was thinking of possibly doing a hybrid install of my own where I have a dealer come in and install the meat and potatoes of the security system and I purchase and install all of the additional wireless contacts and detectors. Would this be hard to do and how do I program a Window contact or a Glass Break Sensor? I have had a look at the manual for the Concord 4 and I noticed that I may need dealer codes and install codes in order to make changes. Is my installer required to give these to me or am I stuck paying them to install any additional wireless zones that I need? Secondly how hard is it to just install the whole thing myself. Like I said there is already an existing security system there with hardwired panels on each level. I would imagine I could remove the old panels and wire in the new ones to the Concord system using the existing wiring. I can see getting the angle correct for the motion detectors possibly being a problem but would all of the other sensors be typically install and play so to speak? I would probably be adding in another degree of difficulty because I would want to use a different partition to protect an outdoor shed of ours. Besides that is the install difficult enough to warrant [B]$4000 [/B]or do I have other options? Thank for you help, Marcellus

I have a Vista 15P, and a 6150RF which is hard wired, so I assume it has a receiver built in to communicate with another keypad? One store I called told me I could use a 6150, or 6148, another store said I needed the 5828, and yet another store told me that I had to have the 6160 that was the only way to program it. What options do I really have, I prefer not having a "V" where people can hear it, and I would like for it to be continually lit up with the system status, which may or may not be possible since it will be on batteries, so I will sacrifice, just let me know what will work please.
