Vista 10p won't disarm, won't change master code
Like a lot of others i purchased a bank owned home with a Protection 1 Vista 10p system. I want to run it as a local system, no plans to activate landlines or have a monitoring service.
By going thru your other threads i managed to make it thru power down, power up, *#, #20, got installer code and then *99. Thought i was home free BUT- tried to enter new master code, no confirmation beeps. I can arm system with the master code i entered, but can't disarm it. Can't disarm with installer code either. Since i get no confirmation beeps, i presume it is not accepting the codes
Tried a test after i reset (powered on while wife hit *# to disarm and enter program mode)- entered master code and "chime", got nothing. Entered Installer code and "chime" and it activated the chime function. Entered installer code and chime again and it disarmed.
What am i missing? I gather from other threads that if i can get the installer code, that the unit hasn't been locked out, so i must be missing something pretty simple. The keypads (2 of them) are 6150's.

You didn't possibly try to use the same code for the installer code and the master code, did you? The system won't let you enter the same number for both.
When trying to enter the master code:
[installer code] + 8 + 02 + [new master code]
You need to enter it with no more than a second or two hesitation between any of the keystrokes, or the code will not take.

Finally got it to work, must have been the timing thing. Now, since i don't have landline and plan to stick with local use, do i need to reprogram anything to eliminate the FC code and any other related functions?
Thanks for the help.
