DSC Zone Open
Hi
I have a DSC Power 832 with 8 zones.
All zones are working except zone 4
Wiring for Zone 3 is Brown and wiring for Zone 4 is Green at the board and Common is Yellow/Orange. I have connected Green and Yellow to the door sensor.
When I check the output (DCV) on all the door sensors they show 1 but when I check the output on the door sensor for Zone 4 it shows -16.
Please advise what could be wrong ?
Thanks

Checking voltage is meaningless, in this case. You just need to check _continuity_. Alarm contacts are just switches, usually normally closed to open on alarm.
Is the system set to use the end of line resistors? A missing/broken EOL resistor would cause this, as would a simple bad contact.

Wiring
Hi
I have checked the wiring for that zone by 1) checking the resistor is ok with a multimeter it registers 5600 and 2) checking continuity of the 2 wires and there is continuity (closed the wires with a resistor and the multimeter confirmed continuity).
Please let me know what you think could be wrong ?
Thanks
Steven

If the zone wiring tests good, and the zone does not close with just the 5.6k resistor, then the only thing remaining is a failed zone input. It's been known to happen with DSC hardware, and the only fix is to replace the motherboard.
