DSC RFK5501 and Glassbreak Detector Self-install

Hello! New user here from Florida...

I would like to self-install some DSC WLS912L-433 detectors and add them to my RFK5501 panel. Is there anything I should watch out for in particular? My system is monitored and I do plan to add motion detectors as well.

Also, does anyone have any of these for sale? Thanks!

RFK5501 is the keypad model. What is the system model it is connected to? This makes a difference. These DSC panels largely program the same but have different capacities.

PC1616 is what it says at the circuit board box. I thought the RFK had the wireless receiver built in.

The RFK does have the wireless receiver built in, but the base system is what determines what the wireless reciever can or cannot do.

As long as you are not near the 32 zone wireless max capacity of this system, you can certainly add more transmitters.

Do you have the installer code?

If so, once you get your new transmitters installed, the main complication is telling your monitoring center about the new zones.

Have you give the installer manual for both the alarm control and the RFK 5501 a read through?

Thanks MrRonFL. I have read through the RFK manual but not recently. I have not read through the PC1616. I used an installer code a couple of years ago, but I am not sure if I still have it recorded (I might). My monitoring company probably has it as well. I have only 6 zones currently in use, so I am glad to know I can add these. Time to get reading...

Go Gators!
