land line failure when ADT cellular backup service is dropped or tripped

Have an ongoing issue with a land line failure that seems to occur whenever the cellular back-up on our ADT security system is dropped or tripped. Have had both ADT and Verizon here multiple times. VZW says the problem is ADT's. ADT says the problem is VZWs. Can't get them here at the same time so am stuck in the middle. ADT rep literally screaming at me this moring - VZW says - not their problem deal with ADT. Has anyone had this problem (the land line thing not the screaming rep thing) and if so how did it get resolved? Thanks!

Without more accurate information, the only guess I can make is that then the cellular unit goes into trouble, the regular dialer seizes the phone line and dials out (like it's supposed to), the question is, from your description, is why it's not completing the call and releasing the line?

The only proper diagnosis for this is to listen in on the phone line with a butt set (or the equivalent) so you can hear what's happening when it tries to dial out.

Basically, this isn't a trouble that's easily troubleshoot with second hand info...

You are paying ADT to monitor you. If your system is failing to do so, it is up to them to correct the problem. Otherwise, I should think, they have breached the contract.
