GE Simon XT question about chime function
I have installed the simon xt and have set the chime voice to setting of "1" which is suppose to make the chime when turned on to announce the sensor name. All it does is give two beeps which I believe is setting 2 or 3.
How to make this work? I just want to have each sensor say it's name when a door is opened while disarmed. At least that is what I understand the chime function to control.
Thanks

chime function
I have all the sensors in group 10 for front door and other doors as group 13 with a motion sensor in group 17...voice is on. What happens is that the voice sometimes works and then sometimes just the two beeps. I think it must be a timing issue since that occurs with the front door.
While I have someones attention is there a description on how to manually enter a name for a sensor other than the preprogrammed ones? I played with the keyboard on the control panel but it is a guessing game. There must be a listing on how to do that.
Thanks

you can scroll through the sensor text to find individual letters to create your own sensor names...BUT, they will not be spoken by the system when the chime is on. It can only speak the words that come from the factory.

Actually it is funny. If you do not use the pre-defined names in combinations such as "Family Room Sliding Door" and spell a name it simply says the letters like someone is spelling the name. I did that for my office door and it said, "Office D, O, O, R." Kinda funny. Did figure out how to do the combinations using the numeric codes for each defined words. You can put in a space and then another predfined name such as Laundry Room Door is entered with 131 102 139 102 136. Works great.

HW1 function 1 Determines how the HW1 I/O output will function:
Off = no output
1 = interior siren output
2 = output activated when armed
3 = output activated when disarmed
4 = fail to communicate output, activates when fail to
communicate condition occurs (the fail to communicate option
must be on)
5 = alarm output activated when panel is in alarm
Off = no output
