ds power 832 system bell circuit trouble and panel failing to communicate

We have a DSC Power 832 system and recently realized when the system is tripped the alarm isn't going off. I checked the system and am getting 3 trouble messages: the bell circuit has trouble, the panel has failed to communicate with the central station and loss of time on the system.

The system shows that it has been triggered and shows the correct zone, but there just isn't any response to the horn.

Is this a keypad issue, and can we replace it ourselves, and does it seem like a power surge would do this to the system?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

90% likely that you just have a failed siren. Is there 12VDC at the siren/bell terminals when you trip an alarm?

For the fail to communicate, have you made any changes in your telephone service/wiring?

The loss of time means that either your battery is marginal, or you had a power failure that lasted long enough to deplete the battery.

I think we're going to have to break down and get a professional in .

Our first thought was the siren and we tested that by directly wiring it into the main panel...it works.

We actually disconnected our phone about a year ago and didn't even think about the alarm system (stupid) and it still worked...so that isn't the problem.

The battery has been a continual problem for some reason. We have to change it out constantly. But the power failure is a possibility this time.

Thanks so much for your input...I really appreciate it.
