Wireless Door/Window Sensor Strange Problem

I've run into a strange problem here with this particular type wireless door sensor for my new system.

I have a door/window wireless sensor, 60-362 that I am trying to learn into my NX-8V2, with the NX-548 receiver. I've already programmed in several other zones on this panel, both hardwire and wireless, but this sensor is not acting like any of the others.

I can learn it into the panel OK, but after that it's as if I did nothing. The sensor just doesn't show up anywhere, or trip the chime. I've learned it in and deleted it several times with the same result each time. This is what I am doing:

*8
code 9713
35#
0#
19*
Trip the tamper...get the Ding Dong
#
Exit
Exit
Went just like all of my other wireless sensors except after the panel resets and I fault the sensor (take away the magnet), nothing happens. I don't get a chime or any fault messages, or anything. I've tried the sensor in different zones but always the same result.

I must admit that this is the only sensor of this type that I have tried to program. All of my other door sensors were the NX-458 type. I've read through the install manual for the sensor and followed the instructions for programming, but nothing seems to work.

Is there something different about these sensors that is special? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks...Randy

Have you enabled zone 19 in the NX-8 programming? What zone type is set for that zone?

Yes, 19 is enabled. In fact I actually learned in a different device just to be sure that it was working correctly, and then I deleted it.

I believe that the zone type for 19 is 6, by default.

Thanks MrRonFL...Randy

It sounds like you may have one with a frozen reed switch, i.e. "bad out of the box". You followed all of the standard steps.

Yeah, I guess so, or something wrong with it.

Thanks MrRonFL.

No jumper. Only a push button tamper switch, and the contacts for the external connection.

Right, well maybe I should ditch this guy and get one of the newer ones cause I can't get this one to work no matter what I try.

As aged as that transmitter is, my guess that it's probably a bad device fits the scenario. Get a new one, and you should be good to go...
