neighborhood linked security system

Good Day

here In South Africa the crime levels are extremely high and home breakings and assault are on the rise. i would like to know if there is a system out there that allows a person to trigger a panic alarm and that signal should be sent to a number of people around and they should know from who it is coming so that many people could respond all at once? is there such a system or something that would serve the same person?

Thanks

Most alarms have a set of contacts both normally open and normally closed that can be just for anything you can imagine. You could wire to those contacts to illuminate a strobe light on top of your house or set of an alarm at the neighbor's house.

If you will be running wire to connect the houses the standard low voltage used in alarm circuits could be problematic. You may need a relay and then can send higher voltage for the long run between houses.

Another option is to go wireless. Telephone and cell phone dialers are commonly available and inexpensive. When this dialer gets the signal it calls whatever numbers you have programmed into it and plays a pre-recorded message. And if you want to go to a higher level commercial alarm systems are designed to be linked and monitored from a central location. With today's technology you can do almost anything you can imagine. You are just limited by your budget.
