Can I wire existing window trip magnets to a GE NX-650 transmitter?

I currently have an X10 wireless alarm system installed. I would like to switch to a GE Simon XT system. I know that I can not connect the X10 wireless transmitters. However, I'm wondering if it would be possible to keep the existing magnet sets that I have mounted and wire them into one of the GE NX-650 window trip transmitters. The magnet sets simply have two wires coming out of one of the magnets. I'm wondering if I could somehow connect these wires to the appropriate leads in the GE NX-650 unit.

Yes, those transmitters have a hardwire input that you can wire any normally closed hardwire contact into. You would have to set your system to ignore the built in reed switch, of course.

Hi MrRonF. Thanks for this information. That is encouraging to know. What do you mean by "set your system to ignore the built in reed switch"?

It's part of the process of programming the transmitters into the base system. There is a setting in the programming that you can tell the transmitter to use the external contact input.
