DSC PK5508 Problem - Stuck in house

Hey there,

I have a weird one but we'll see if anyone knows how to help..

I'm currently renting an apartment with a DSC PK5508 Alarm installed, it's always been disarmed but I accidentally learned on the control panel and somehow armed the system.

Here's the tricky bit, I have NO idea what the access code to disarm it is nor does my landlord who actually owns the house, she says the system already installed when she bought the house.

What can I do to disarm the alarm or even just unplug it so it doesn't go off every time i open a door or window

Any help would be amazing!

- Katie

Welcome to the forums.

The 5508 is just a keypad. There should be a control box somewhere as well as a big plug in power supply. Open the alarm panel and disconnect one of the battery leads. Unplug power supply from wall.

May be held in place with a center screw into the receptacle. Be careful removing that screws as wall plate could land on the prongs of the adapter.

Unplug either of the wires on the battery, then loosen the set screw and take the wire out of either one of the terminals labeled "AC" (it's 16vac, so it's quite safe) and wrap it with tape. That will shut down the system, fully.

Yes....the red/black wires go to the battery. If that plug wont unplug from the board...... disconnect either red or black wire from battery.

Using a small screwdriver.... remove and tape the first wire. If you don't have a small screwdriver just cut the wire and insulate it.

Look around the edges of the housing. There are small slots that you can slip a small flat screwdriver into. Pry gently, and the keypad assembly will come out of the mounting base, and you will have access to the screws holding it to the wall.
