Simon XT Sensor Group - Notify only no alarm

Hi,

I have a Simon Xt and want to install a TX-8010-01-1 sensor on my overhead garage door. I don't want it to trip the alarm, just notify me with "garage door open" when it's triggered. I imagine it needs to be in a sensor group that monitors the sensor but doesn't trip the alarm. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Cherga

I'm pretty sure that would be sensor group 25: "Local special chime: notify the user when a door is opened. Sounds emit from a local annunciator. One direct bypass and unbypass when no special motion chime sensors are in the security system. No report."

Thanks for the info. I have it in group 40 however it doesn't chime. All of my other sensors announce name and open/closed. It announces when I hit status but not upon event. Thoughts?

I enabled the special chime option and it still doesn't announce. Do I need to name the sensor something specific? I have it named "Garage". I tried Garage Door, Garage Window and even "Special Chime". Still doesn't announce when open. Pressing status, it will say "Garage Open".

What's the voice chime set to?

1. Press the down arrow until you see "System Programming" and press "OK"

2. Enter in your installer code (4321 by default) and press "OK"

3. Press the down arrow until you see "Siren Options" and hit "OK"

4. Press the down arrow until you see "Voice Chime" and press "OK"

5. Change the chime feature by using the down arrow and press "OK" (1 is voice chime, 2 is a loud doorbell sound, and 3 is a soft doorbell sound)

6. Press "Status" until back at the main screen, where it says "Disarmed"

It's set to 1... Voice. I switched it to 2 and it did the same, no announcement

If you change it to a regular perimeter sensor group, does it chime?

Yes it does. I put it in 10 and 13 and they both chime when the door is open.
