Can I buy and set up a new keyfob for my GE Concord 4?

I have a GE Concord 4 control panel, a wilco keypad, and a 2 button keyfob.
The system is now set with a 3 minute delay.

I would like to get a second keyfob and eliminate the delay. The dealer has quoted me $65 for the keyfob and $65 for the service call to make the changes.

Is this something I can buy and do myself?

Do you have the installer code? If so, then you can enroll a new transmitter, and make your own changes to the delay.

How many digits is the installer code? When they sold it they made a point of saying that I could have the installer code, and there is a 4 digit number on the receipt.
How can I tell if that is it?
Where do I get instructions on the programming?
What do I look for to get a fob? Mine is 2 buttons and all the once I see for sale are 4 buttons; does that matter?

I appreciate the help.

You have to use the keyfobs made for the Concord wireless: Keyfobs | Intrusion Solutions | Interlogix Global Security Products

You need the installer manual: http://www.myalarm.com/manuals_prog/GEITIConcord4.pdf

To enter program mode, do the following:
1. Make sure you disarm the system in all partitions.
2. Press 8 + [installer code] + 0 + 0. The display shows SYSTEM PROGRAMMING

See page 40 in the installer manual.

Thanks much. The manual is awfully confusing, but I am sure I can figure it out.

How can I test the 4 digit number I have to ascertain I have it right without changing anything.

If I enter:
"Press 8 + [installer code] + 0 + 0" presumably it will show SYSTEM PROGRAMMING if I have it right and nothing if I have it wrong. How do I get out without changing anything?

I want to make sure I have the code before I order a keyfob.

From page 42:

Exiting programming mode
After all installer/dealer programming is completed, to exit programming mode, do the following:
1. Press * until the display shows SYSTEM PROGRAMMING.
2. Press A or B until the display shows EXIT PROGRAMMING READY.
3. Press # and the touchpad displays the TIME AND DATE.

I do not have the installer code. They told me they would give it to me, unlike other companies; but when I reminded them of that, they said I misunderstood them. They will reset it to default if I drop them, but they said no one gives out the installer code. (doesn't that give me an incentive to drop them?)

So, am I out of luck here? She did say I could buy my own keyfob for half the price they are asking, and they will install it for an hour's service call. Better than nothing I guess.
